New Gary Fairbanks contact

Does anyone have the phone number or name of the business that bought all Gary Fairbanks stuff when he retired? I know it is still in Ct.

If that doesn’t turn up anything for you, Henry Schmidt at Supertec has a pile of 901 and 915 stuff now. He’s been selling some rebuilt gearboxes in the classifieds, and likely has anything used you might be looking for.

After I posted I realized I actually need a 84-89 3.2 housing, as I need the cut outs for the sensors. I updated that under WTB in the parts section. I’ll give Henry a call.
Thanks Matt

I think Jason has some of gary's tooling right there in Williston, VT. but you've probably already checked with him.

I'm pretty sure European Performance Specialists in Watertown, CT bought everything Gary had left.

Not too much of a challenge. Just make a template in cardboard. I used a box from Porsche, so I knew the template was correct!

That’s right. Bela has a bunch of it, though I think he’s in Sebring already.

Early 3.2 bellhousings were cut. Later ones had the reinforced casting cutouts.

All good info guys. Yes, I got ahold of Bela. He said good luck finding one as they are in demand. He said on the race cars the case gets oblong where the pinion shaft goes through in the 2 o clock pisition.
Above poster has a NOS one but that will be up to the customer if he want s go that way. On the other hand I might fix this one. A Ct. car that was run in the winter for years. Salt from the roads found its way around and behind the pick up sensor for the speedo and ate a hole in the case where it is super thin. (1.2mm). The hole cleaned up pretty good. I ordered a round piece of aluminum stock from McMaster Carr and on the lathe I am going to make a sleeve with a bottom to it 1.2mm thick. Open up the hole a whisker more and have a light press into the case until it is flush with the inside of the case. Locktite and a tack weld at the top and I think it will be fine.
Bela mentioned a track guy who had to do a on site repair who popped out the diff and JB welded a thin flat piece of aluminum. After 6 years no problem.
Ignore the mainshaft, can’t figure out how to get rid of. The photo.

California Motorsports. Top Porsche gearbox machine shop in the country. Pelican also sells some of their stuff like 1 piece bearing plates and big bearing side covers.
