What Wheel is This?
I am told this wheel is made by Momo, but not stamped as such. Says made in italy and was a small production run for some special applicatoin. It is a bit smaller in the grip, and maybe 1/2 " greater in diameter. Anyone seem or know of this wheel?

Subtle differences. The guy I spoke with buys lots of wheels in Italy, and says he got these from Momo with the above story. The center spoke only has two vice three holes and the grip is somewhere between the thickness of the proto and a stock early 911 wheel. It is also a tad bit larger, maybe 360-370mm. Standard MOMO hub fitting and stamped mad in italy....I can get it a bit cheaper than a Proto, and I like all the differences. Just want to make sure I'm not putting a cheesy late 70's Firebird wheel in my car at twice the real price.

Chris,
Do you still fly the F/A-18C? Are you still in? When I was younger and in College I tried for the ROTC and it was my dream to fly and F/A-18 or an F-14. It's nice to read about a pelican person that is living out their dreams. Thanks Ron Fitz |

Yeah I'm still in...still flying Hornets. There's a couple of us, I think Geroge M? is a Tomcat guy for a couple of years until they all transition to Supr Hornets, and one of the Commanding Officer's of a squadron that just returned is finishing a gorgeous red turned viper green 72S. Narrow body + duck tail. There are a couple of us out here....

Chris, it looks good to me. If you like it and it fits? Buy the thing...just don't toss the factory wheel in case you'd like to go back to original.

That's what I'm leaning towards, although its only a difference of 25 bucks. I think it is actually a MOMO wheel. The more I study the pic I think there's a chance the third hole is covered by a much higher leather wrap compared to old stock proto's...The guy who has these wheels also has a number of proto's left and held em up as he described the differences. Real nice guy. For those thinking of multiple wheels, apparently the Luisi hubs are great quality and accept both Nardi and Momo spacing, and are much better than the Nardi hubs. Just in case you like to change wheels like a woman changes clothes and shoes. The greatest attractin to me is the slightly larger diameter wheel and slightly thinner grip.
