1972 911 rear facelift to post 1974 spec

I have a 1972 911T that is a very good replica of a 1975 RSR. However, the rear of the car does not include the red rear centre reflector that is fitted to post 1974 models. It currently has a piece of sheet metal fabricated to fit the space between the rear lights where the reflector is located and I was wondering whether I could just remove it and buy the end panel part number 911 503 151 00 and bond (rather than weld) it in place and fasten the reflector to it?
