Hanging the car from front bumper shocks

Replacing front suspension pan. Can I support the front of the car by the front bumper shock assembly? I need room to drill out the pinch welds to get to the areas so I can remove the rest of the rotten pan. I'll level the car front to back and left to right to make sure there is no twist in the chassis before welding in the replacement pan kit. I'll support the rear of the car from the rear bumper shock assembly. and measure from a level floor to critical points on the car. I welcome any thoughts on this project. TIA, Kip
