Clutch measurment for replacement
I have my engine and trans out of car. it has been off the road for almost 20 years. I had my clutch replaced a few years beofre I stopped driving it and it would only have a few 1000kms on it , but it is older. I am debating putting a new clutch in now, or not. What I would like to know is what is the thickness of a new clutch vs measurement on a clutch thickness when it should be replaced. Thanks in advance

I used a 73T ALU pressure plate that had been in storage for 25 years in my 2.7MFI build, with new disc and release bearing, works perfectly. If yours has an ALU cover, you probably can’t buy a better one today. Clean it up real good.

Thank you. Good point. DO you know the wear measurements for the disk?

Assuming we’re talking about a 77 2.7: 8.1 +- 0.3, .06 runout.

Ditto. Don't spend money on a new disc. Make sure the throwout bearing turns smoothly, but don't replace it unless it is not smooth.
