My first 911, need info

I just bought a 1981 Euro SC. I bought the car from someone on this board who had advertised it in the for sale section. My father has owned an 88 targa for a while, so I'm not completely new to the 911. Unfortunately, the car did not come with any documentation. I did do the PPI and thoroughly looked over the car before I bought it, and aside from no documentation and a nasty dent (which is being repaired as I type), the car is in remarkable condition for what I paid. What could I do to obtain as much info as possible about this car? I have heard of a "cardex" from PCNA, but would this apply to my car since it is a Euro? I am looking for any details, such as federalization papers, title history...

Also, other than cams, compression, suspension, and lights, what other differences are there from the 81 Euro SCs and the US spec ones? Thanks in advance for any answers and I'm sure I'm going to have LOTS more questions to come as I tear into this car!

I highly recommend Peter Morgan's book 'Original 911" for information on particular models and differences between US and Euro spec cars. Also, both of Wayne's books (101 Projects and the Engine rebuild book which I ordered today) give great information.

Did you pick up Steve's white coupe? That was a nice looking car...

I bought a car from a guy who goes by "Naptownspeedy" on this board. Ryan sold me the car for what I felt was a fair price. It is in fair condition only because of the "bumps and bruises" including one nasty dent in the drivers side rear fender. It is a silver, no sunroof coup with just about every option deleted that could be deleted. Although it still has the 16" wheels so I think the original owner intended on it being a track car. I am so far very happy with it, and have started tearing it apart fixing and examining everything on it. I am amazed how much faster it is than my fathers 88 targa. The 3.0 spools up MUCH faster than the 3.2. Why is this? I was originally focused on a Carerra, but now I am glad I found a truly unique SC as my project car. The best part about it is that I was able to keep my daily driver so that the P-car will stay in the garage for the winter weather.

SC motors rule!!! Welcome. You might as well keep the track car conversion going Fun Fun Fun!

You don't need no stinkin "documentations..just start taking things apart and ask the BBS....it's like a giant puzzle..challenging, but very rewarding

No, really, buy Wayne's books, a Bentley SC manual from Wayne, buy parts from Wayne, send Wayne more money, then use the BBS to get your money's worth. (..haha..just giving you a hard time Wayne)
