Type A and M SpeedBleeders
Has anyone sourced speed bleeders for Type A and Type M Calipers?
If so, which model number? Thanks Bob |

They were different sizes front and rear on my stock 82SC, the one "card" or package of the speed bleeders I bought a year or so ago that I could find indicates it was a SB8125LL M8x1.25
Just go to the speedbleeders.com site and they have a chart. Edit: Just found my email receipt from speedbleeders. My 82SC used a pair of the ones I mentioned and a pair of the SB7100's like linked earlier. Good Luck! Last edited by SCadaddle; 02-14-2023 at 09:13 AM.. |

Checked the site before posting...could nt lookup by car so found old PP thread
For fronts OEM is M8 x 1.25 with 11 threads) SB site has SB sb8125ll stating M8 x 1.25 but length is 38 versus 35 mm for rears: OEM m7 x 1.0 with 11 threads, the SB (sb7100) is M7 x 1 with length of 35mm versus 30 on OEM bleeder I ve used SB before on 2 other cars (Brits) and made fluid changes so easy as I use the vacuum method or pedal push versus a Motive Pressure push. I contacted SB via mail for clarification..no response yet |

one of the best (and rather small) investments made on my car. i had my calipers rebuilt by PMB and had them add these to my order. hard to think about not having these on my calipers.

can your records confirm the correct bleeder part numbers?
there are short and long versions of the 8 and 7 m bleeders |

sorry, my records aren't accessible right now. i have S and M calipers, so i do not have the A. folks at PMB are very helpful if you want to give them a call. PMB Performance

This is one of those total PITA subjects, because there is possibly more than one answer.
If you parse the PP catalogue, and the linked Speed Bleeder website above, you'll come away believing that you need two different types for all '75-'89 front and rears. But!, on my '84 911 both F/R are serviced by the SB8125LL (https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=PEL-SB8125LL). I had to make a decision and bought two sets for my project, and fortunately both fit F/R without issue. Now, technically, the Carrera brakes are termed Wide A and Wide M, (I dont think they changed the bleeder as part of the design) but PP doesn't necessarily catalogue with that degree of specificity, and neither does the Speed Bleeder website, grr.

You are correct that is a PITA subject According to 77Katalogue (PET) my 77-S has A fronts and M rears and the catalogue as well as PP parts suggest 2 different bleeders (OEM or otherwise). M7 and M8 It is very confusing that your 84 uses the same f/r? The calipers being A and M on yours really is a baffler? Perhaps others can chime in re sizing same or not? Lord...why are the simple things so difficult and the hard things so easy :-) |
