Was that a Keen car, built by Goldcrest?

Great project, can't wait to see what you do with it. It looks like it had the full send treatment in both regards!

No, it wasn't a Keen car. Not sure who built it actually. I bought it at auction and they don't share seller details.

the rust and/or repair in that front pan worries me.
without being able to see the car personally I would not want to take that gamble. The repair on that front pan could cost more than the asking price of the car. Which is probably why it's being sold so cheap.

Battery acid leaks into the channel in the pan and eats the galvanic coating. Then comes the rust. It's not that tough to replace; Jimtweet does them in his sleep

I'd rather replace a front pan in an otherwise clean, east coast car than replace all the rubber in a sunburnt southwest car.

Good luck with the safari build. They're pretty fantastic as urban/adventure rally beaters.

That’s more than a battery leaking, and clean east coast cars don’t get their engine and tranny pulled and sold as rollers.

Yes he does. At a cost of $16-18k+ depending on how far he has to cut. Then I'd be at $30k+ for a roller which just does not make any sense.
If I could personally see the car and really establish the amount of damage/rot, I'd consider it. But the description saying possible damage repair and rust leads me to believe there is more to the story than just a couple of rust holes and something is not being disclosed.
So, that being said, I'm going to reach out to some body shops with a good frame machine first and foremost and see it they can pull it straight. Then consider that cost, plus the cost of buying all the parts, paint etc and weigh the options from there.
I think this would be an awesome beater. A good friend has a Keen car and I've had a lot of fun with him in that thing. This one would be somewhat close to that at a fraction of the cost.

Give it a pull on the frame machine you might be surprised. Looks like you got a free transponder too, near the driver headlight.

That looks like a decent deal you got there, nice.

Clutch doesn't work because the floorpan got shortened a little, cable is too long now.

yes, I saw the transponder. Left over from its track life days.
Any value to those?

That's exactly right. I get into that in the second video which I will post up in the next couple days

New transponders require subscription so the older style like that have retained their value. Worth about $500 to racers, assuming the light comes on when you put 12 volts to it.

I know the Keen cars well as I have taken several trips with them with. They are truly beautiful and the things I've seen them do and the terrain I've seen them traverse defies all logic of what a 911 "should" be able to do.
Unfortunately, mine is nowhere close to a Keen car. But I didn't pay Keen car money either so I think I'm ok.
Anyway, here is my progress up till now.
I will probably be looking for a decent roller in case anyone knows of one for sale.
