Why is this not in Pelican's Catalog?
While watching the Porsche Musuem's presentation on the 959 PD4 car rehabilitation (https://youtu.be/5jwlvkbRz2I) I saw this neat little fix to a common complaint - accessing the starter top nut:
![]() Rothsport has a similar solution, to the tune of $95! But any competent machinist could tack or braze hex stock into a new barrel nut and sell them for far less. (To those who would say it would rust, or fail, etc. that is the original part on the original car after competing in the 1986 PD, and left untouched for 36 years. Looks to have stood up well.) So, the question is, has someone already done this? Obviously, it's not an area that needs such a solution for everyday access, but when you do need it this would be a lot easier to deal with than trying to fish your extended hex bit in the inky void of that work area, banging your head on the sharp bits of your car trying to see what you are doing, or coming away all grease covered bear hugging your lovely transmission.

I would just pay the $95 if you really want one. There’s no money in fabricating such a part and trying to sell it for under $100.

As a member of The Church of Light, I find this blasphemous!

Why not just use an extension tho? Have never had an issue.

Interesting. I wonder if the 959 has differences that make this extension important. It certainly is a lot busier in the back than “normal” 911s.
