Will this G50 fit my 87 Carrera

Looking to source a G50 for my 87 Motor swap.

Is this the correct G50 for an 87 Body?

Looks just like the one in my '88.

Looks good - check the bottom boss for the G50/01 marking

It's a G50/50. It'll fit, but a tad bit more work. And you'll need a cutout for the crank sensor(s)

It's there. The boss in the tail housing for the reverse idler shaft might be throwing you off.

A tad bit more work? It will need a full tear down to have both the bellhousing and mainshaft shortened. That’s an extra $2k beyond the entry cost of the most expensive G50 made.

Yeah, a tad bit. I didn't say anything about cost. :-P Send it to Roger and the crew for teardown and inspection, and "while you're in there, shorten it up an inch or so."

It's an inch longer than a "normal" G50/01. And by the looks of it, the guy who posted the ad doesn't know what he has; he has it incorrectly listed as a G50/00.

Thanks for the replies.. I'm going to pass on this one. It's overseas but was worth the collective to give a look.

Slowly amassing parts for my build. Guess I'll cross this bridge a bit later.

Thanks again.

What did a G50/50 originally come in?

Exactly. The rarest of the rare. Many were snapped up by the mid-engine kit car clowns. Finding one now usually involves trading for functioning body parts or unnamed newborn children. Often $25K+, which is why my first thought was that the ad might be a scam.
