Wurth SKS stoneguard - roll on application???
 

Hi - anyone have experience with rolling on Wurth SKS stoneguard? They recommend Schutz gun - I have a few small areas and would like to roll this product on. Protection is more important to me than matching finish. But it appears that the product flashes quickly.

Anyone have experience with rolling this product on? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks - Tony

I put the Wurth Stoneguard on with an old paintbrush. I'd plenty of time to work with the stuff before it starts to dry. The finish is good too. I don't think it would have looked any differfent if I'd sprayed it on.

"Stipple" with the paint brush (poke it up and down on the surface), and it will very closely resemble the sprayed on finish.

Let me know if you want to go the Schutz gun route. I hope to be finished with mine this weekend. It wasn't expensive, found it on Amazon, but happy to send it to someone else to use.

I wanted to ask… what is the reason is for using it?
The previous owner of my car used the car mostly for concours events. He cleaned all the cosmoline off the wheel wells and then he clear coated the wheel wells.
Looks amazing, feels amazing, sounds bad when you run over gravel.
The noise is tolerable. I just want to be sure I’m not damaging the car by not having any protection other than the clearcoat.

If directed to OP - I have a few visible spots where stoneguard was compromised. I took those areas to bare metal and prepared them for SKS application. I could have stripped the pieces completely, but then would need to strip surrounding pieces for texture consistency. It was an option to go smooth - not trying to achieve concour finish…

It’s not cosmoline it’s chipgaurd. Protects the metal from stones and gravel and deadens sound a bit. Cosmoline is a wax like rust preventative looks like peanut butter. You won’t damage the car but eventually the clear coat will become damaged.

Thought I would add that upol makes the stone guard for wurth and other companies and you can buy it in a spray can for touch up if you desire. Most basf jobbers carry it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1677158942.jpg
