Quick! What's an original hard Targa top worth?

I'm walking out the door to look at a 73.5 Targa that has a hard top. I'm trying to figure out what the car is worth. Obviously the top makes it worth a bit more, but I'm trying to figure how much. Any opinions?

i've seen people ask $2K. not that they got it, but they're hard to find. swap it to a pelicanite in exchange for a real nice targa top plus cash, and the buyer will never know.

Thanks John. Well, to get the top I'd have to buy the car that's under it and I don't think I want to mess with the car. It's a 73.5 T Targa that has impact bumpers, a 2" diameter rust through of the driver's side door jamb, some rust on passenger side door jamb, a bit of rust near the windshield, a $200 repaint, cookie cutters, a Carrera tail, JC Whitney vinyl seat covers and last, but certainly least a mystery engine. The engine number is not where is should be! The fan strap is that of a 2.7 (says it meets 1975 emissions requirements) so I have to assume it's a 2.7 liter. He's asking $6000. It will probably sell but not to me!

Moot point now, but I paid over $1900 for mine less than 2 months ago. I've seen 2 for sale in the 3 years I was looking, both in that price range. They don't change hands often.

Yuck. Run away, fast. Funny - the hard top theoretically comprises 1/3 of the entire value of the car.

I've been trying to think of how to get the top. Offer $5000, buy a used Targa top (one on ebay for $600) then try to resell the car? Nah! Too much hassle. I was just hoping the whole package was nice.

Yeah, I know. If it's too good to be true... But I couldn't resist checking it out!
