901/911 Ring and Pinion
I’ve searched
Is there a source for new ring and pinion gears for the 901 / 911 transmissions? Otherwise, they are all at least 50 years old with unknown mileage / wear Thanks in advance |

Albins is an aftermarket supplier. I do not have any experience with Albins but they have been represented by those more knowledgeable than I as suitable for track use. I think the expected useful life may be shorter than OEM. YMMV

I don’t stock them, but I believe they are available from Porsche Classic for around $4k.

Another option is Albins, a reputable supplier of transmissions and parts thereunto. In the US, Retro Sport is their distributor.

$4K? Ouch. I would not worry about a used R&P if the contact patterns are normal.

I posted this wear pattern which we believe the R-P are worn and as a result there is rear end noise. It is the extra line at the bottom of the gear tooth

Which did you think made it cheap: the word "vintage" or the word "Porsche"?! Cheers,

Hah, hah. Yeah, I've discovered that over the many years I've owned Porsches. A couple thousand dollars here, a couple thousand dollars there--pretty soon you're talking about real money...
It just seems that the number of zeros have increased in the past few years. ![]()

Show us the condition of the pinion gear teeth. They touch 4 times for every time the ring spins once.
