Looking for info: 964 converted to 350 small block

i am looking for a suitable donor for a project i have been considering. i want a late 1970s 911 to hold a small block chevy engine. i've found a few helpful links, but i need more information--- it's going to be loud! :)

does anybody have any lead data on how the engine will rest, mate to the transmission (or do i need a different one) and any other information how to get it working?

i am looking for torque, plain and simple. i think the engines' weights are comparable....thanks in advance

I don't think that you will find much info asking questions on the 911 board, most of us look down on the whole V8 911 thing. I suggest that you search through the archives. Heres one thread to get you started http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9743&highlight=glad+to+ have+a+v8

Edit: just realized this was my 100th post:D hurray for me, I am now a senior member!

You say you want to convert a 964, but your message says "late 1970s"?

Do a search on "V8 conversion" and you will have an avalance of opinon, and some information.

Fair warning, most/many of the folks on this board regard the removal of the classic flat six air cooled motor akin to removal of the soul of the car. That being said, to each their own and whatever floats your boat...

don't worry about the flat six, while it's out it would be rebuilt and crated for installation later. i am just looking for something to destroy tires with. i know how you guys feel about that flat six--- nothing else sounds like it at all, it's got a great burble.

It would be interesting to see a V8 behind a Tiptronic Trans .with the Tipo
half the Porsche Philosophie is gone anyway .

I dont think the tranny is gonna stay together, if you want fire belching tire smoking buy a Camaro, Kevin

Sounds like fun but the transmission in your 1970's car will not be happy with the torque or drag starts. Done right, V8 conversions get pretty expensive I think.
