Pegasus Emblem
The red Pegasus emblem has been seen on a number of early 911's, a bit like this one
![]() But for my Black 911 I wanted something a bit different. The I came across these photo's on this site to give me an idea. ![]() ![]() So I got to work and this is the result. ![]() ![]() ![]() So what do you think? Tim

Is that a custom vinyl decal or hand applied pinstripe paint?
Who did the work and how was it done? Request for an overall shot showing that visor decal too.

I like the idea but seeing "Pegasus" like that makes me feel uncomfortable.
No offence intended.

Pretty cool but I'd be interested to know what who that Pegasus in bones represents. Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't know...

Well, the Peg was the old Mobilgas logo, so I'm assuming a skeletal Peg means that the car is electric powered.
No? (I think the owner wanted the skeletal Peg because it looks different and kinda cool on a black car) d. |

I have a feeling that gas station is in California, mainly southern california. I swear I have seen that driving around here.
Im thinking its just a rodders interpertation of the standard pegasus. Mobil was huge in the 50's for racing. Street rodders and rat rods routenly did things like that. BTW....you pegasus looks amazing!

A bit of searching shows that this artist put it on several buildings over the years. It's also available on a t-shirt, *possibly* by the actual artist, possibly by someone who took his design. Who knows.
I do like it, and seeing the skeletal Pegasus on the side of a broken down, abandoned service station is just classic.

Its a custom vinyl decal. Using the photos as a guide, the image was hand drafted, scanned and cleaned up in photoshop and converted to vector image so it could be cut on a vinyl cutter in any size without losing quality.
I've done the same search and have not been able to track down the owner of the copyright to the image - too many of them around on buildings from one side of the USA to the other to be 'one-off's'. No copyright disclaimers on Scullphones site - so suspect they may be just using the image. I'm certainly not claiming the design to be my own - clearly it's not. I'd like to track it down if I can as I believe people should be acknowledged for their original work. As for why - I just though it was a great alternative to to the original Mobil logo and especially suited to Black cars - I think it would look great on the matt black Zuffenhaus car. A little bit Alternative, a little bit Rodder but linked back to the Pegasus on early 911's. Tim

I stand corrected - looks like the artist is indeed Skullphone. Did a bit more searching and there are a number of blogs with his work. Thanks for the lead James.

That is cool - it is deadish.
Was it mobilgas or the "Flying A", or were they the same?

I associated it with "Flying A" but hey, I am old and my memory isn't that great sometimes
![]() You asked so here's my take. These are Porsche cars and personally I don't think they need decals tacked on the sides, like we did in high school. The 911 is the most recognizable sports car profile in the world. Now if your a track guy, with sponsors, etc. that's different. Never could figure out why guys tack "Carrera" decals on non-Carrera P-cars. Or "Porsche" decals on the sides of their P-cars. But I do understand that the key word is "their" and what each of us does with "our" cars is all good. Cheers, Bill
