Extended upper starter nut Rally car mod

Someone a month or 2 ago? posted a picture of a welded up extended upper nut for the starter that was from a factory prepared 911 rally car and I can't find the picture. This mod makes it easier to change the starter out because that upper nut is a ***** to get to.
I have a spare nut and a dream, anyone got a picture or even better some measurements???
I know Renline makes them, don't want to pay for it rather make it

While I have taken to using a regular hex nut here, the factory used a barrel nut. Should be easy to weld a stout tube around a barrel, and weld a nut on the other end of the tube. You chose the length you think would be helpful.

Yes, that's exactly what I plan to do, but it seems more fun to replicate the factory piece.

Someone recently posted a picture of a 959 engine/trans that had a nut like that from the factory.

Found it.

Yes, thanks that's exactly the post I was looking for.

Thanks reclino/David, I knew there had to be someone else who thought this was an interesting idea.

If you watch the video you may be better to tell how long that extension is, but I'd say it's about the length of the starter body.

If you fab one up let us know what length you settled on.

Cheers

Funny. Looks like it's just an allen wrench cut off and welded to the nut.

This may be what it is. I had to grind down the chamfered edges of an Allen wrench to get enough purchase within the barrel nut walls.

Just for the conversation, the factory barrel nut has a taper at the seat that the head nut doesn’t have.
