Singer style tail
Hi Gang,
I have become fascinated by Singer and their design details - in particular, the small tail on the rear deck lid. The Singer tail and the engine grille are one piece and part of the dynamic aerodynamics of the car. The custom tail is almost like a small version of a ducktail. Does anyone have a tail similar in style or know of something similar available?

It looks like it was styled after the 964 or 993's retractable spoiler.

A while back I looked and there is a company that makes a mini-duck. I'll have to try to find it.

Betterbodies makes a 964 C2 style add on. Similar to the Singer spoiler. I just pulled one off my '77 Targa.

Maybe it wasn't a genuine techart spoiler fitted , maybe they didn't know what it was , maybe they just forgot ?
Iirc techart made the original "hoop" , and many many others copied it . They look rather good on a 964 . Not quite as subtle on a cab as the roofless profile makes it look even more like a shopping cart

Club Autosport Ltd. in the Uk sells a replica of the Singer style rear spoiler that fits on a 964 decklid. I bought one which is being delivered to me now. Great guys at Club Autosport. Mark was very helpful.

I have something similar on my 991 from vorsteiner, and I’ve always wondered if someone made something like this for the impact bumper cars.
I’m really doubtful about whether I’d put something like this on my SC as I like the clean lines as they are, but curious to see nonetheless. |

I believe this is the better bodies one that mimics the 964/993 retractable spoiler. Not quite Singer-style. More Porsche-style

I bought a singer style tail for a 964 deck lid. I'm doing a back date hot rod project with a 1983 SC steel wide body coupe. The 964 deck lid/spoiler is off the car and i need to raise the 964 spoiler to swap the spoilers (for painting). I saw a You Tube where some guy raised the spoiler with a 9V battery. I tried that and had no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, we got the spoiler raised and modified the decklid hinges to fit the 964 lid (not an insignificant process). The car is completely stripped, all the welding is finished and it's ready to go for paint in a week. I will post photos of the modified decklid hinges if there is any interest. Thanks, greg

@ Runner4fun. What brand spoiler is that? I'm looking to install a 964 deck lid as well, and that's the spoiler I'm looking for. An info or pics of the set up would be great.
Cheers! |
