Driver side turn indicator not blinking

Getting started with some spring maintenance. trying to trace the likely cause of the driver side blinker not working. Bulb changed - not that.

Checked connections, not that.

The driver side turn indicator is not blinking in the front, it is in the rear, passenger side on both front and back work .

Parking light works, driver side.

4 way flashers everything but the front drivers side is not working.

It seems if the 4 flasher is working , the flasher relay should be ok as well.

It could be the turn indicator switch however before I do that R&R , I am trying to eliminate other possibilities.

Any suggestions

What connections did you check and how did you check them? If other corners are flashing it's not the flasher relay.

If the driver rear turnsignal is flashing it's not the turnsignal switch as both front and rear on a side are controlled by the same contact on the stalk. Sounds like some wiring/connector issue.

Not sure what car your working on, but when mine does that, it's corrosion in the fuse block such the fuse is not making good contact. Sometimes it takes me more that one cleaning to get it to work.

90% chance the fuse is blown or not making proper contact. Remove and re-insert the fuse.

And don't ask me why Porsche decided that only the front turn signals needed to be fused. Bizarre decision.

There's a fuse for that blinker, I just dealt with that recently myself where I inspected the housing and replaced the lamp and somehow forgot the fuse. Remember these fuses just love to look perfectly fine while conducting zero electricity.

FYI, I am work on 1988 3.2 Carrera. I did try to R&R driver side turn signal fuse. That did'nt work same result. Rear turn working, driver front turn not blinking. Yet to aatemp a reclean terminals, I thought I had done that , however will recheck. According to comments, relay should be fine, and turn signal stalk shoiuld be ok.

I know you changed the bulb, but the bulb sockets frequently get corroded too. Re-check that and test the socket with an ohmmeter. If the other signal lights work, then the problem is related to that corner of the car, either a connection or bulb socket. And to rule out dumb stuff, make sure you changed the signal bulb, not the side marker bulb.

If you have power to the bulb, I've run into the problem of the bulb not grounding in the socket, cured the issue with some aluminum foil to get a proper setting and ground, doesn't take a lot of foil just enough to remove any socket sloppiness.

Excellent topic. Learn something about these cars every day. I have exactly the same problem.

Did you check the socket with a test light to see if power was getting to the socket or not. If not then work backwards from there.
