Tail rubber- over spray

Any best practices or ideas on best way to remove the overspray on the tail rubber of my 930? I don’t know what type of paint it is (referring to over spray).

Thanks!

First thing I would try is Adam's Tire & Rubber Cleaner. It is by far the best rubber cleaner I have ever used.

If that doesn't get it, I would try a good paint cleaning clay (with a clay lube). Followed by the Adam's Tire & Rubber cleaner.

Good luck with the process.

If vinyl or acrylic, alcohol as David said. I wouldn't advise going beyond that w/o contacting a detailer that does overspray. It's not uncommon, just all cars, not just P-cars.

And you can ask on the detailing forum.

I use spray gun cleaner. It's a solvent but milder than trying to get the paint spots off with paint thinners. If you are going to try anything, try it on the underside first to see if it damages the rubber.

Ah, I see. So this "David" edits his post hours later to include the spam link. Well, it was a pretty good answer even if AI generated it. Who needs forums anymore?

The pattern looks too sporadic and spread out , large droplets for a common spray gun waning off course.
Are you sure it’s paint overspray and not wax or polishing compound ?
If it is polish splatter, try a bit of peanut butter and a soft brush.
Safely removes it - but make sure to thoroughly clean afterwards or before the squirrels do it for you. WD40 will also remove imbedded compounds on plastic composites.

I never thought of this (it being polish/compound).

Thanks to all who replied…even you AI Overlord.

Paint roller overspray is common too. People don't realize that a roller throws off little droplets that look like sporadic overspray. I see it on furniture all the time.

I painted the garage overhead door - a subtle breeze left latex paint mist on my hood 15 ft. away. Didn’t show until applying wax. Latex is easy to clear up with a random orbit buffer.

Also - whenever the stripe the roadways (or lay down that asphalt oil before repaving) …..Stay Clear and take another route, not only will that overspray accumulate into a mist and dry quickly, there’s will always be someone changing lanes kicking up and blowing more wet paint into your path.

Looks good. Using a protectants like 303 regularly goes a long way keeping paint and other airborne contaminants easier to clean. Thanks for posting results.
