Torque specs / loctite for 3.2 studs and AC bracket hardware RH side
 

Hi-

Upon removing motor to do fuel lines/tunnel as well as a ton of while it’s out projects one of these studs had broken. I’ve extracted and removed the other to completely replace along with all new nuts/hardware for the triangular piece of aluminum here that anchors in the main compressor mounting.

I can’t however find torque specs nor do I know whether I use loctite or similar on the studs going into the block.

If anyone could share some tips I’d be most appreciative! First time for me here.

From the Bentley manual. I couldn't find anything regarding the studs into the head (camshaft case).

M8’s 25nm, M6’s 10nm.

I would use a touch of blue loctite and set them to the proper height, not based on torque specs. You can check to make sure you don't exceed the torque spec if you are worried about that. Do not bury the unthreaded portion of the studs with force!

The depth is given in the PET. So for example an 8 x 35 stud is an M8 with the exposed side showing 35mm above the case ... I believe. Someone can correct me if I am mistaken with the spec here.

On my ‘86 they measure 24.6 mm.

You don't need to tighten the studs very tight at all. They will hold just fine if they just sit in place with enough depth. I would just insert the studs until they bottom out and stop.
