Brake Line Spring Clip Removal
This is the spring clip where the hard line attaches to the rubber line. I've been trying to get behind it and pry it loose but no luck. Any tips for this? I am thinking this might allow a few additional inches of clearance to remove the strut insert. If this is a waste of time, I'll just disconnect the brake line at the caliper. Was trying to avoid this as I just completed full brake fluid flush recently and out of ATE fluid. Oh yeah, these are Bilstein struts. Thanks,

Are you talking about the spring clip 914.355.665.01? I start moving it with a small pry bar between the ends of the tines and whatever they abut. Then once I've broken the freeze and reduced spring pressiure on the clip's high part, I grab the other end with a pair of vice grips and yank it off. Reinstall with a little antiseize on the clip where it rubs against the arm.

I recall doing something similar to what Kevin describes. I think my effort might have involved a hammer and a pry bar. Then once you start to get it off it becomes easier.

Are you talking about the ones on the rear of the car?
I like to grab the angled edge with big pliers, then use a hammer to whack the pliers. |

Front of car, got it off. A few drops of light oil overnight, small prybar in the rear and vice grips on the front and pulled straight out.
