Rocker Panel Fastener Question

Short Version: There are three fasteners at the bottom of each rocker panel, and three plastic spacers. Are these plastic spacers the same thickness on both sides of the car or, alternatively, does one side of the car require thicker plastic spacers than the other side?

Best I recall, they were all the same thickness, I took mine off a little over two months ago.
I might have been missing one though, can’t recall. I could look maybe tomorrow and see if I can find them if your still needing to know.

Thx. Rocker panels have been off this car for several years. On the passenger (oil cooler lines underneath) are four fasteners with thick spacers underneath (holding the oil cooler lines). Fasteners and spacers are absent from the driver's side but....in my general Porsche 'washer' jar there are three very similar but thinner spacers. I am hoping to determine whether I already have the spacers I need. Three thin spacers and three thick ones? The parts diagram says there are two part numbers. 3 of one, 3 other. I wonder if I already have the needed spacers.

See thread “rocker skirt hardware fix”. My rockers have various thickness white plastic washers held by a pretty beefy sheet metal screw and large washer.

What year car? I just did mine this winter on my ‘87. Both sides have the thick spacers but one side (want to say passenger side due to oil lines) there is an additional 5mm spacer on each of the 3 fasteners. The fasteners are also longer. Look in the PET - it tells you. Plus there are 2 washers per fastener, also. One for each side of the rocker. Just looked - the right side fasteners are 6 mm longer. So this side has the extra 5mm spacer to go with the 10 mm spacer. So the order from car to outside is, 10mm spacer, 5 mm spacer, washer, rocker, washer, bolt head.

I think the year is '83 SC. Well I took a chance and my memory failed, but I learned about PET and here is the link for the 78 - 83 SC.

https://www.porsche.com/filestore.aspx/download.pdf?pool=multimedia&type=download&id=porscheservice-originalparts-dropdown-kat002-911-83-katalog&lang=en-us&filetype=default

It's figure 810-00 (page 517 of 660) looks like spacers are two sizes 11,8 for this year(s). Not sure how to tell from the document which side is which (probably order). Anyway, finding this document is a big help to me. I can determine which side is which (bagged them and labled them, just need to hunt down the bags) but as the astute replies (wrxnofx) above note its likely the side with the oil lines which need the longer fasteners.

Interesting that your year PET doesn’t specify /L versus /R for the spacers and that the hardware is the same length. In the PET for ‘87 it explicitly shows the side for the longer hardware (but not the spacers).

Yes if the 78/83 PET shows which side is which I could not find it.
Still so glad I stabbed at an answer and got looped in here, serendipity, as I goofed up on my recollection but this PET thing will keep me off of Facebook!

Can someone please set the record straight on which side has the thicker spacers, and how these go together? Is it fastener, washer, side skirt/sill panel, THEN plastic washer? I have all the hardware in a bag but I removed these in like 2015 and yeah I did not take any photos back then.

Thick spacer goes on the left side, thin spacer on the right side. Seen from the body. Spacer -> panel -> whasher > bolt.

The reason for the thinner spacer on the right side is that they screw into the oil line mounting brackets.
