Sportomatic clutch slipping

I recently bought a 1976 Sportomatic and have only driven it about 50 miles. To start with the gearbox was fine going into gears etc then after about 50 miles the car has a problem going into d2 and d3 it seems to go into 1st or low gear. On a second trip out while in d2 it felt like the clutch was slipping, is there a was of adjusting or is there a potential other problem.

A further update, I have taken the car out a couple of times and the clutch seems to have a problem after about 10 miles of driving.

Sportomatic is the devils sandbox. Disc thickness or oil are the usual suspects for slippage as in the tach goes but the car doesn't. I can't remember what problems the torque converter can cause other than leakage. Usually problems with any of the quirky gizmos that make up the sporto shifting system will cause non shifting or grinding, Try to find a shop that has some experience with that unit but hurry as they are considering retirement

Lets assume your clutch is ok and there isnt any oil on the disk.
The clutch is mechanical but uses engine vacuum to disengage the clutch. The vacuum is connected to a diaphram.
The diaphram is connected to the clutch with linkage.
When the engine us off you should have some play in the linkage. If not it may not be disengaging the clutch.
If the linkage has tension on it, adjust it so that the tension is relieved.
Drive car
Still slipping?
remove the vacuum line from the diaphram at the transmission. Plug the end.
Drive in second gear, dont shift as the clutch wont disengage.
If it is not slippling then your control valve is leaking through which allows vacuum to pass to the diaphram. Try cleaning it or replacing. Part number 905 108 370 03
or newer.
If it still slipping you more than likely have oil leaking on to the clutch disk.

Not sure if the sportomatic clutch disk is available thru dealers or not. I have seen them on ebay on occasion.

Note that the thickness may be different than a manuals clutch disk. It is for a 1976.

Hello, I have a 1970 911T sportomatic and the past few rides the clutch slips (tach goes but car don't). Now, there is a definite noise coming from the clutch area that does not sound right. Sound goes away once you put it in gear. Pretty sure I need a new clutch.

Question, is the clutch replacement procedure the same in the sporto as a manual?
