Rear Bumper Sag
Hi everybody! The rear bumper on my 87 911 cabriolet is sagging a bit on the passenger side, and I can't quite work out how or why.
It seems removing/reinstalling the bumper is a bit involved, and I'm happy to do it if I need to, but curious if anyone knows of a simple place to check for a loose bolt or misaligned connection without removing the whole bumper. It's been like this since I bought it. When I push/pull on that side of the bumper, there is a bit of flex/wiggle.. whereas the driver side is rock solid. Thoughts? |

I would check for any impact damage that may have collapsed or bent the impact shock absorber on that side. Inspect underside and compare measurements with the driver side. It doesn’t take much of a hit to knock the impact shock out of alignment or bend the tube mount bracket “ears”.
Not being a body man I can’t say if there’s any wiggle room factored in to adjust bumper or the impact shock/tube to meet the adjoining body lines. Post a photo of the full bumper view, it will also help others see what you’re seeing a determine some solutions, also it might be difficult to capture, but an underside pic might to help also identify any damage. |
