24mm fan socket, don't forget to upgrade with alternator
Hi,
Was putting my original fuel pump into the frunk just in case. Added the spare Porsche fan belt that I'd bought. Perusing the tools, I like the W. Germany markings, neat. I remember the wall and looking over the other side, grey, not quite shivers, but I still remember all these years later... probably was near 81, same as my car. Decided to try the tool kit 22mm socket wrench on the alternator.. Knew even before I'd got there that the alternator I'd put in several years ago was 24.. Don't forget to put in a 24mm socket and wrench if you plan on changing a spare belt on the road... Funny how it never occurred to me, at least. Phil |
When I was assembling the new tool kit for Project Heavy Metal I had the same issue - I ended up getting a tire iron from Moose Racing with a 24mm socket end.

Yep! When I first got my 1973 I needed to replace the fan belt. I discovered the almost complete factory roll that was in my car was missing the fan holding tool and a 24mm wrench (it had the 19/22 combo). Found a Fan tool on e-bay and bought an $8 24 mm combo wrench at Wally Mart.
