Fatty Steering Wheel Experts

I've been conversing with fellow Pelican SWS911 about Fatty steering wheels and we're looking for confirmation about a few details.

We understand Fatty's have the thicker grip (4 inch diameter) and the three spaces between within the center of the wheel are concentric (meaning the same size), whereas a normal Porsche three spoke wheel, the area from 9:00 to 3:00 is much bigger than the other two. I also believe the Fatty's were an option on the 74 & 75 Carrera's and have a metal stamped three spoke.

I've heard early 928's 1978-1980 also had three spoke Fatty's, but the three spokes were aluminum and much lighter than the Carrera Fatty. Looking to substantiate Carrera and 928 Fatty history.

Below are a couple Fatty pics. The black painted steel stamped is my Fatty and I believe the aluminum centered Fatty is from a 928.

Looking forward to your feedback, Thanks!

That last pic is my Fatty. It's bead blasted steel, not aluminum. It was in bad shape and is in the middle of a restoration process. I sold a 928 wheel here with 911 parts on it a while back and it measured appx 3.75", so not a Fatty.

Circumference! 4" diameter is like a drain pipe.

FWIW 'concentric' means that from any point on the rim, it is equidistant to the center nut securing the wheel to the shaft.
Normal three spoke wheels will have a different measurement from the top and bottom to the nut.

Thanks for the concentric clarification.

Check the date on the steering. From what I heard "Fatty" has a 74-75 manufacture date
