3rd break light
I read the tech article on adding a third break light. I want to do this because I always get nervous when I see big SUVs bearing down on me and wonder if they are going to drive right over my low tiny SC. The tech article mentions the use of an LED stip purchased at AutoZone. I have looked at all the local auto parts stores and cannot find anything similar. Anyone know where to find one similar that will be easily hidden and not look like it was added on?

Just put the same one on my targa last week but tossed the packaging material out..sorry. Indianapolis has about 12 AutoZones if they don't have it they can order it for you.
On the Targa, if fits up against the glass and against the back of the Targa padding. I just took the little swivel thingys off. Can't see it in the mirror or from outside at the rear. Seen only when its on. Could have been a factory fit item it fit so well. On a coupe, I guess you would still need the swivel thingys to mout it. Wouldn't look as good. |
anyone run one of the cab 3rd brake lights (out of the top of the engine lid)? That seems like a reversible solution that's easy to wire, although I'm not sure how they mount.

J. C. Whitney has a few different models and so does Pep Girls.

Never thought about Pep "girls" or JC whitney. Thanks for the info. Was there a part number on the Autozone part?

Made by Pilot. #WE6-197
AutoZone # 124001-1 |
Thanks! Found it.

If it is for a Targa and you want to do something more Porsche-like.. look at the PN 951.631.060.00, not from a 911 but 'blends' very well with the rear Targa window.

It's for an SC coup. Has anyone installed a factory 3rd break light from a Carerra on an SC? I noticed on PelicanParts that the targa version (like those on the 88) is only about $50. WOuld this fit on a coup or would I have to do some modifications?
