Id guess the easiest way would be to drill and tap it for a new stud. The one on the right there is looking pretty sorry too

Looks like you have enough thread left to use a coupler. I would try that before surgery on the bumperette.

It looks like you have good metal on both of the studs. You could weld thread all on what's left and use a thicker washer so that you don't bottom out the nut.

ok, sounds promising

Your post is interesting and timely… I just removed the bumperettes on my 1983 SC and the lower inboard bolt on both of them broke off the same as yours. I’m not intending on putting them back on the car anytime soon (refinishing the bumper and leaving it slick) but I did find it curious that those particular bolts broke so easily and the others the nuts just came right off.

Given the size of the hole in the bumper I would try a coupler first as it will likely fit no problem in the hole.

Cut away the vinyl material, grind down the bracket and tack weld a new bolt. An elevator bolt has the flattest head.

elevator bolt

if I cut away the vinyl material, wont the elevator bolt loosen and the bolt would come up due to not having that material around it..or do I tack a new bolt to the flat head still surrounded by material.
Guess I am not understanding what / where the bracket is.

Thanks

The bracket is molded into the rubber.
