200k mile steering rack
Pelican brain trust:
My 200k mile 3.2… full suspension rebush complete… front toe-in set around 15’ total. Rear closer to 20’ total toe-in. Feels like I have some play in the rack contributing to a bit of instability, so I’m thinking I should either rebuild or replace the 200k miles used steering rack. Car already had turbo tie rods with about 30k miles on them. Is the new Dansk rack good? Or am I better off rebuilding the OEM rack? Input or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

How do you know it’s the rack itself? Did you look at everything else coupling disk et. New racks are $1500 plus, I’d rebuild the one you have if your not all thumbs, pretty easy.

I set them up with front toe out, rear toe in. Front toe-in adds understeer to an already plow happy chassis design.
As for the rack, I'd rebuild it. My SC rack has 230k on it and feels great after refreshing it.

Always a lot of factors…but as most everything else is new, the rack is the only item I haven’t touched.
