Rear Seat Shoulder Straps

Morning all!

The car: 1986 911 Coupe
The objective: make the rear seat compatible (safe) for little ones for road trips.
The problem: Kiddo seats are too big to fit in the back and the wife is concerned that the lap belt will not be enough if we hit the brakes hard. (I think we both agree that if we hit something hard at highway speeds the only thing we will really need is to make sure our sins are forgiven)
For the racers out there: are we better with a 4 point harness? https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/racing-harnesses/number-of-mounting-points/4-point
Or better letting the neck and spine smoosh into the back of the front seats?
Isn't that how the HANS got put into NASCAR?

Looking forward to thoughts.
Andrew

Car seats are too big, or you can’t find one that fits properly? There is a recent thread around here with seat models that do fit.

You can also add 3-point belts in the back. A 1986 should already have the threaded mounting points for the retractors under the rear deck.

Put in 3 point belts. It's the safest solution and the car is already set up for it.

I put in 3-point belts in mine. I ended up using original parts form an 89 Carrera because the parts that I bought from an aftermarket seller ended up not working at all.

Thanks for all the replies!

We found the post on baby seats in the cars:
https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1120486-child-seat-baby-seat-carrera-3-2-g-body-2.html
And went with the
https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/1201-48.html
That way we can actually get the baby seat tight.

Will reply back with how the install goes.

I have an 86 as well and installed later 80s 3 pt belts, was pretty easy. Once the kids move from car seats to boosters you'll want the 3 pt belts.
