Question painting door jams

I am about to spray primer on the car. I was just preping the door jams as they are they only thing left to prep. I don't know what to do about the vin tag though. Is there a way to peel it off without ruining it? I don't know what I should do, I don't really care about the tag but if it is something that is important and i can't get a new one then I would like to perserve it somehow.

I masked my tag and painted around it. I don't know if they are available. I sort of doubt it

place masking tape around it push the corners real tight then take a razor blade and cut around it then take your finger and push the tape down again.

I asked this question before and was told you can purchase a new one from Porsche for ~$75.00. I took a window decal scraper and slowly peeled it back and put it on wax paper for later on. Go very slowly and it will come up.

A hair dryer will help soften the glue. The new one is black as opposed to gold and took a month or so.

I just taped over it, pushing the tape down tight, the trimmed the edges with an x-acto knife. Hat to do also that for my BAR sticker, which I can't just pick up the phone and get a replacement (or maybe I could?)

If your doing your car in two stage paint I'd suggest masking over the sticker for the base coat and then just clear over it. That way you won't have a rough paint edge and your sticker will remain intact.

Yes the clear wil stick to the sticker if it is urethane, not lacquer.
