Smog compliance - Exchanger delete
 

Tried searching and couldn't find anything.

I am getting a 3.2 & G50 from an 89 to transplant into my 87 that I bought as a roller project.

I will be deleting the heat, already have the Rennline blockoff plates installed.

Is there a way to block the exit ports of the stock heat exchanger so I can pass smog, or is there a set of headers that will accept cats and I'd just go a different muffler route?

My car had a totally different direction, so any insight would be great!

I have seen someone put cats on a car with SSIs, but it’s not easy and it’s definitely not going to pass the visual in California. Your best bet is going to be blocking off the heater exit ports on the stock exchangers and if you want you can put headers on between inspections.

I've got the entry holes blocked with the rennline plates. If I can block the stock exchangers I may just keep it stock, unless there's a drawback I'm not aware of.

I'm fine running stock w a cat for a while, my last E63 build made 600hp and had secondary cat deletes and I couldn't stand the rotten egg smell after coming off of WOT.

Heat's provided me with a great way to defrost windshield on humid/rainy days. If keeping stock HE, why disable something that doesn't hurt performance?
