Amazing that the driver walked away. That was the Petite LeMans race at Road Atlanta (1998). I was volunteering for the PCA and driving a VIP van around the infield just 50 yards away when that happened!

All the fans took off running to the back straight so we knew something was wrong. We kept our eye on the Jumbo-Tron screen and were shocked at what we saw.

Yep. He was on the tail of the Ferrari as the car went over a slight hump. What's really scary is how close the fans are to the track where that happened. You can see the fence is in the video.
