Won't start - DME problem?

Euro 3.2L engine in '83 SC body. Quick summary of the problem:

Car begin to struggle occasionally when starting - starter would engage and it would take about 10 seconds to turn over.

Car now won't turn over at all. Same sounds as when it was struggling, but now gets stuck at that point.

Installed new hi-torque starter, new ground strap at the battery, cleaned wires that connect to the solenoid, cleaned transmission ground strap - still won't start.

I haven't checked the voltage at the solenoid yet to test the ignition wiring, but once I do that I am stumped.

Where do I go now? How do I check for spark and fuel? Should I try replacing the DME relay? If I fail, does it sound like the car will roll start to enable me to avoid a tow to the mechanic?

Please help!

By now the battery must be flat. Did you try jumping it?

Still showing a good charge on the battery and jumping did not help.

Your motor might have been flooded with fuel. Remove all the
spark plugs and then try and turn it over. If the DME was
wired incorrectly, this may have caused the problem.

Good luck
