New Shocks....yesssss!

Recently I posted a question to the group about replacing the OEM shocks on my '85 (80K miles). Given the enthusiastic advise, I took my car to our local Guru John Walker and along with a tune up he put on new Bilstein HDs (I didnt want the sports since I do not intend to track the car)....I just enjoy spirited street and road trip driving)...Well.....the difference is incredible...its a new car....she sucks up the bumps and corners like a roller coaster....easily a 30% improvement in handling. Thanks all for the encouragement and thanks John for the excellent service!!!!

MWBAUM,

I just checked my '74 and both rear shocks are leaking fluid. They are black with a white stripe near the bottom of the shock. I think I'll replace them with the Bilstein's that PP sells. I hope they improve my ride as much as new shocks improved yours! BTW, John Walker is on his way to Porsche sainthood!!!!!

I have Bilstein heavy duty as well. Feels like gliding on carpet.

If your rear are leaking then your fronts are probably in bad shape too. You may want to do all 4 or at least start planning for the other two in the near future
