Door Jam Trim question
The trim piece that's in the door jam is loose on both sides on my car. It was like that when I got it.
Is that trim piece just glued in place or is it supposed to get tucked in under the trim part from the back seat? I thought it should get tucked in but he part thats there isnt really wide enough to allow it to be tucked in. So how do I fix this? thanks ![]() |

Likely glued on the edge and on foam to hold it to the vinyl but hardened, deteriorated and separated. No glue or adhesive will adhere to that foam. Removing it in one spot will cause an uneven look.
I’m not sure if there’s a bottom screw to remove that single panel (top screw visible) or if it’s under the lower aluminum trim sill guard. Mine is separating only at the very bottom but the vertical edge is still tucked intact between the panel. I guess the easiest way is to keep that old foam intact and just carefully glue the end that tucks and see how it holds up. Any excess contact cement rubs off. A trim adhesive in a tube might work, easy to apply a bead and then tuck it back into the panel crevice. Tape it up to hold it in place as it cures. Before gluing anything - dry fit and mark/measure where you want to put the glue and make sure everything aligns. Contact cement needs to ‘flash over’ on both sides in order to bond. |

IIRC, the edge of the vinyl is wrapped around the edge of the door frame and under the panel. Remove the panel behind it to see how it is/was glued.
