Porsche Crest Quarter window glass : all the same?

Can’t seem to find an answer:
are the quarter window glass all the same on 1965-1999 cars? Pop out/fixed same?
My 69 project car has clear pop out quarter glass … but all tinted everywhere else(should be tinted from factory spec), I do not care about date code etc.. I have the pop out frame, but want to know which glass are compatible.

Thank you!!

Greg

Hi, I'm sorry its not an answer but is your rear quarter glass clear and marked SEKURIT? I may know somebody wanting to take them off your hands. What's condition like? Rob

Both sides are clear currently , they will be available if I find side quarter tinted.
Right now they are marked
Sekurit-1
D89
M89-AS2

I’ll be also looking for a rear tinted window (my rear is clear too )

The best I can determine according to Porsche PET for 1970-1977 shows the same glass part numbers for these (911/912) two model years.
That’s a broad range for a part number being the same, I don’t know about 1969/earlier but a good guess would be yes, pop-out and stationary are same, albeit the frames and seals differ.

The numbers and letters imprinted on the original Sekurit glass are required by DOT indicating manufacturer safety features. The AS-2 indicates Non-tinted, AS-3 is Tinted.

Hmmm I see your point. Manufacturing process differs over the year? I know using different glass suppliers (aftermarket) there can be variations to that original tinting color and not match exactly (learned that with BMW), but you say all your glass is Sekurit.

It could be you have a mismatch of “Lot” numbers. Try to find out how to decipher those DOT markings as one set may pertain to a lot number or year of manufacture. You may have to seek out earlier 911 owners that can advise on those DOT markings and numbers further.

I can say that ALL my glass (1977 w/AS-2) is marked identically, each bears all the exact same markings with the exception of the front windshield that was replaced.

For what it worth, the best way to describe Tinted AS-3 vs Non-Tinted AS-2 is to see them side by side….eBay or with a white paper behind the glass. Tinted is very greenish, the Non tinted has a slight bit of tint of color but the difference between the two is obvious. They are not 100% clear like ordinary house window glass due to tempering and in windshields, the lamination.

How the DOT considers Tint levels…
AS-2 : allows 70% of light to pass thru
AS-3: does not allow 70% of light passage

Hope this helps with your search.
