"Double clutching"
Okay, does "double clutching" mean depressing clutch, putting tranny in neutral, releasing cluch, giving engine a 'blip', depressing clutch again, then putting tranny in next lower gear?
The only reason I ask is that with these (915) trannys that seems like a lot of time to spend right before dumping it into a turn. (I know, I know - DE or AutoX is in my future)

If I posted the link correctly you can watch some nice foot work.
Good shots of heel&toe. I have not watched it much, maybe some double clutch. I dunno Still it's a fun view.http://speedms1.free.fr/lemans2003.wmv Last edited by 5axis; 06-09-2003 at 05:54 PM.. |

If done reasonably well, it actually happens far more quickly than one can read the description. If you're double-clutching a large truck, yeah, it's a slow process, but in something like a 911, it's a couple of stabs at the clutch and a quick blip of the clutch, all done in a seamless littel "package." It really takes no longer than waiting for a a synchromesh-aided shift.
