Hub Cap Question

I ordered new center wheel caps (Part #: 911-361-032-28-OEM) to replace my beat-up originals. I understand the two holes in the hub cabs are for locking them down with an Alan wrench.

Per the list on PP "With only needing a couple Alan keys to install, this hubcap should be a simple installation for anyone."

I assumed ::confused: there'd be some type of mounting plate with Alan screws to attach them to the wheel... nothing. I've searched the diagrams, and haven't found any more info.

The new caps look great and snapped in nice and tight, but would like to be able to lock them down. Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks!

If these are the "ring style" center caps for a Fuchs wheel, there is no mounting plate or allen screws. The ring pops into the wheel and that is enough tension to hold the cap in place.

When you popped out your old ones, they weren't locked down, right?

No - tension ring - same as these.

I was reading on an older post (got to find it) recommending the OP to switch to these as they lock. Guess that's bad info. Any idea why the holes and reference to Alan keys if this doesn't apply? Are the caps I bought multi-application?

Thanks!

I have never heard of those two little holes being anything other than a way to remove the caps if they are very tightly seated - here is a reference and a picture of the tool

Note that caps with a removable crest, rather than an embossed emblem, do not have the 2 holes

You are correct; found out the same thing. They're just there to remove, not to secure.

Appreciate the reply!
