Still need this part, anyone?
This is the "hot air line" for the drivers side exchanger, it is item #19 in the illustration. Thanks guys!

Sorry, gotta bump. Starting to get a little worried about this one. Parts Heaven, NO. OK Foriegn, NO. Any other ideas? Thanks

Maybe try a flexible metal line?
|
No chance on the flex line, it is a VERY tight bend and it passes right over (maybe touches) the heat exchanger. Hmmm

Why not just buy a mandrel bent piece of exhaust tubing in the correct size and cut and fabricate it to fit? We have done this for some custom intercooler pipes and it works well, and for very little money.

You may have an idea there but I dont think so. This thing bends right back on top of itself. I believe it is clamshell manufactured as mandrel bending cannot produce a 180 degree bend with such a tight centerline radius on 2.5" material. Worth a look though, thanks.

I second Slider's recommendation. "Hot-Rod" shops do this kind of work all the time. Give your local shop a call, I'm sure they can fix you up -- and for a lot less than a Porsche repair shop!!

You know...we have a box of stuff in our garage from previous owners and I think we might have that part. I don't know if it is the right one and/or in good enough condition for yours but i'll check and take a digital for you.

To remedy the super tight bend, what I have done in the past is buy the tightest mandrel bend I could order (usually from a street rod shop) and then section the radius and weld the two pieces back together. It makes a super tight bend and usually doesn't look too bad either.
Here is an example showing the section to be cut out. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/sectioned.jpg |
Thanks sarah, you have a PM. Slider, good idea! One thing though, I don't know your location but I am assuming Cali or close. You guys are so lucky, you use phrases like "local Hot Rod shop". What is that? All I have here in west Michigan is my local PepBoys! UGGhhh

lendaddy,
I live in Colorado and it is nice to be able to go to my local shop during my lunch break. It's funny how much I take for granted living close to a large city and to be able to get things so quickly. If you need a piece of pipe try www.summitracing.com. They carry the same stuff that I get locally. If not let me know what you need and I could get it for you and ship it out. |
I know I have one of these, let me know if you are still in need.

Timothy, You have a PM. Thanks! This board is amazing!
