Porsche powered sports racers and the "Interserie"

Hello,

My name is Brian O'Shaughnessy. I'm hoping to utilize the tremendous wealth of information that exists on this sight to prove or disprove the heritage of a supposed off-hours project of porsche race engineer Eberhart Braun. The car was supposedly made at the factory to race the European "interserie". This was Europes version of Can Am. The car is a tube frame, right hand drive, two seat, sports racer. It is powered by a 2.9 RSR motor and a hewland gear box. It has passed snuff from my mechanic that the case, cylinders, injection and throttle bodies, ect are all real. The car was called the EBS. EBS stood for Eberhardt Braun Spider or Special. The car was owned and raced by Max Moritzand I have proof of that. If any of you guys can help me with procuring proof about this car there would be a reward! My email adress is briano555@aol.com Or you can call me toll free at 888-845-8888 X555.

Thank You,
Brian O'Shaughnessy

Does the puddle in front mean the driver wet his pants???? I guess that would mean it was fast!

Found this picture so far and as a note the listing from a previous or possibly current owner shows it as having a 2.8L RSR engine.

Cheers, James

Yeap thats what I heard in the begining. But the guy who owns it doesn't know as much as his mechanic. When I heard it was a 2.9 I thought for sure it was fake but the factory really made 2.9's.

Hey Len,
Where did you get this picture? Do you have a picture of the plaque in front of the car?

Max Moritzand?

Is that the same guy/company who makes aftermarket pistons (cylinders?) for 3.0's to convert them to 3.2's?

There are 2.9's by the factory but evidently they have serious reliability issues.

Nice minilites on that 911 in the second pic

Not sure anymore where I got it but it is low res and no chance of making out the plaque.

Len, How about picts of the (apparently) ST in the background. I have not seen that one (paint scheme) before.

Nice car Brian. Sorry, but I know nothing about that car.

Well, you probably already know the car was featured in Excellence a few years ago, If not, I'm not sure of the issue but I was just looking at it again a few nights ago.

Good luck, I'll be following this thread to find out more!

Brian,

I took a quick look at some Interserie results, and all I could find was a Porsche EB Special that ran four races in the 1980 season. Driver shown was Karl Langjahr for all 4 races, with results as follows:

Nurburgring: 14th
Zeltweg: 13th
Hockenheim: 11th
Kassel-Calden: 10th

No photos, so I don't know if its the same car. I don't recall the article, but I'll see if I can dig up the Excellence this weekend that Dennis referred to as well, unless he locates it for you first. Seems it would be tough to value a one off like this.

Good luck!
Tim

I'll gladly find it tonight and post any info you haven't already covered. Unfortunately I can't scan it unless the wife and I end up going to the mother in laws house this weekend. I do remember this tidbit though, The magazine editors claimed they were unable to authenticate any info from the article. I'll see what I can dig up!

Found it, December 1993! page 86-89. There is a picture of the car being shown in 1991 by Dick Hyand and the display board says it has a 2806 cc RSR engine. They have some comentary with Jurgen Barth concerning the car and Jurgen admits to this car being built in the early 70's by Eberhart Braun. Jurgen claimed the car was built as a project and that Porsche never really recognized it as one of their own. The story claims the car came to america in 1979. Hyland claims to have purchased the car from German ******** around 1982. The story also has a picture of the car in white liquimoly colors as well as the current EBS scheme. It may take me some time to scan this article, so if some one else has it go ahead and scan it !

It is strange though that the car uses a Hewland box instead of Porsche one.
