Fuel strainer
I’m thinking I need to stop using certain gas stations near my house.
This is 914, vw cabriolet, and Volvo p1800. All this season. Now it’s time for the 1984 911. 3.2 How do I drain the fuel tank? Easiest port, on a lift. Then, can I simply remove and clean/replace the screen strainer? Do I need gaskets or a sealer to re-install? New filter coming New fuel level sender coming I ran out….been acting weird ever since |

I think the easiest thing to do is remove the fuel sender from the top and siphon out as much fuel as you can. Then remove the strainer and let the rest drain out. You'll still need a large pan, but draining after you've siphoned out most of the fuel should be much safer. Have a fire extinguisher handy just in case.
There is an o-ring on the strainer. I wouldn't take a chance reusing the old one. Part number 911-201-143-00. Might as well get a new gasket for the fuel sender at the same time. Part number 477-919-313. Mark
