How do I fix this mess?

3.2 transmission crossmember frame threads are stripped. This is the mounting bolt that goes thru the rubber isolator. Bolt is M8 x1.5 x60mm long. This is the pointed end bolt. The threads in the frame are stripped. It looks to be time-sert does not offer a M8 x1.5 only 1.25 or 1.75. Not looking forward to drill and tapping upside down in a blind hole. Change the grade 8.8 bolt to 1.25?? I knew it was screwed up when it removed it. Does Helicoil have a product?

Thanks in advance

The threads are m12 not m8. I looked up the incorrect size. Time-sert does offer the correct size. What length insert to use? Is this the best way to correct?

Time Sert kit. M12x1.5. 16mm long inserts, IIRC.

Yup. I have done that, too.

Tried running the correct size tap up or are the threads completely gone?

First repair attempt was clean and tap but threads were too far gone to carry load as the bolt would spin. I ordered a m12x1.5x16mm time-sert kit as this seems the correct repair path given the status. Hopefully i can drill and tap upside down. I'll try to use a guide for the process and use tapmagic cutting fluid.

Strap your drill to a large Jack stand if you need support.

Try a Big Sert. It's made to fit an oversized hole.

I used the standard (not oversized) 16mm insert. Drilling and tapping straight and upside down was a pain but it worked ok. I found the stock bolts were 60mm long and the replacement bolts are now 65mm long. Time-sert requires 6mm past the end of the insert when doing a blind insert. As i changed both bolts, i needed to remove part of the point to ensure the second bolt would not bottom out. You need a strong drill. Thanks for the help.
