Porsche Cooling Fan Housing Extension

Whats the point of this? Do i REALLY need to reinstall this piece when installing new alternator? i dont really see a purpose, and its a pain in the A$$ to reinstall.

The fins on the backside of the fan? Absolutely required to distribute air across the cylinder properly.

They are a pain in the butt though, agreed. Especially since the plastic is easy to crush with the bolts.

Be sure to double check orientation for proper airflow. I couldn't tell you what it is off hand but there are plenty of photos out there.

That plastic shroud won't fit but in one position.
