Alternator wiring help
I would really appreciate opinions whether I have the wiring correct.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1691008105.jpg Bottom left to starter and battery Bottom right ground strap Top to charging light This is a complete rebuild so I am using a Painless wiring loom which i might end up regretting, but the original was such a dirty mess :( Thanks |

As I'm not using the Porsche harness I wanted to know the destination of the terminals not which color wires attach .

+ is 12V, - is ground, the other is D+/61, the energizer wire from the dash light. Do you see those marks?

Test To Confirm……….
The factory three-terminals alternator has a triangular configuration.
Top corner…….. #61 Bottom left corner………..D- Bottom right corner……..B+ Unfortunately, some rebuilt alternators that do not have the terminal identification stamped near it. So this is where the problem and confusion begins. There are some rebuilt alternators that have a different configuration and missing identification marks. A simple test is to identify the GROUND terminal. Only one (1) of these terminals or posts has ground continuity to the alternator body. Test and confirm. That’s how to locate the NEGATIVE terminal. Once you identify the location of the GROUND terminal, clockwise is #61 followed by B+. Anyone has a specific test to differentiate #61 and B+ terminals? Thanks. Tony |

I will check the marked - terminal for continuity just in case. |
Let's start with the correct orientation.... at least, the regulator is at the top in my car...
