I thought that your car would not start sometimes. Now you're
fooling with the O2 and the CIS control unit, one thing at a time. You replaced the coil. Now determine if you still have a no-start sometimes. Good luck Loren |
Loren,
The Mechanic I took it to in the first place told me the coil was bad and he replaced it with the same kind of coil along with a new distributor and wire harness after that it worked for a week or so. My question is could have the coil gone bad again and how can I check it? The only thing that I changed over the weekend was the O2 sensor because looking through the records it has not been done in a long time and in Wayne's book the sysmptoms seemed to be similar. Thanks, Rodney |
It's not easy to check a coil for an intermittent operation.
Don't use the silver coils. Buy a cheap VW coil at Pep Boys for about $10 for testing. Good Luck Loren Systemsc.com |
You *must* use the correct coil, or you risk burning out the CDI. A VW coil is not the one to use. OEM part # is 901 602 502 00

It won't hurt the CDI. If it does, I'll send you a rebuilt one N/C.
This is only for testing. Loren Systemsc.com |
