Samson,
Use the below link to find the year of your car and download the PET for your car.

Air intake valve. It goes up to the valve connected just above that golden mount... then there are hoses that go to the throttle body and a vacuum valve on the throttlebody.

From what I've read it's for "de-icing" the throttle body in temps below 50F.

My roller didn't come with one and I opted to cap the throttle body off and the plug on my 87 3.2

I just replaced this part on my 3.2. PN is in the PET as CTopher said.

I ordered from the dealer because it was inexpensive, took 2 days and didn't have to pay shipping.

Mike,

Do you still have the part number? I have trouble locating the part # for this part. Thanks.

Ivan,

I will need two (2) pieces for the ‘87 coupe and ‘89 cabriolet as spares. Will place an order from our Pelicanparts. BTW, are you still planning to move back to America? PM me. Thanks for the part #.

Tony

Because it is ´just´ an air line, does that mran that a crack is rather insignificant? Or would you consider replacing also a thing to do as if it were a fuel or oil line?

It does feed into the throttle body after the air flow meter. I don't drive it in the winter, so I left the line out and put a rubber cap on both ends on my '86 engine. Part #34, Ivan gave the part#. I believe I read that it sounds like a kazoo when the valve #31 fails.

had to look that one up ...'sound like a kazoo'...
not English native, but thank God for youtube (and of course, this Pelican forum)

the de-icer itself seems a big thing above the right rear wheel, I wonder if most of you get rid of that thing or keep it...mine seems dirty with rusted bolts and old lines in/out, rather ditch the witch than pay for repair parts and then never seem to need it as winter trips are not frequent here...

so just remove everything and plug the entrances of the lines, right ?

I tried to fully understand how this de-icer thing works, so went through my Bentley manual...to find nothing...

can someone explain briefly how this works ?

It seems #13 (D) is a thermal valve that opens a vacuum line #30 to open valve part #31 (E). This is to allow warmer air from the oil tank to flow through hoses #38 and #28 to the throttle valve.
Part #36 (C) is a check valve to keep air flowing in one direction.
It's mentioned in the Bentley
