IROC Front Bumper Installation
 

I have a IROC style front bumper that I received from a friend a while ago. It does not have any brackets on the inside to install it to my 1977 car. I wonder how you guys have done that when you installed a similar bumper. I know I need to do some chopping to make everything fit, but it would be great if I could receive some pointers and/or photos how you did it, and give me some additional ideas.

I glassed in fabbed up brackets on an RS style bumper. Got the bumper in place with clamps, then got in there and fabricated some brackets, bolted them to the chassis, then glassed them onto the bumper...then removed clamps holding bumper in place.

Glass in brackets that you make out of aluminum and match them with bolted in brackets on the car. Rivnuts are your friend.

Julian, have anymore pics of your non stock mount? My 77 has the regular impact absorbers. What wizardy do you have on yours?

Nick- when I bought my bumpers they came with very nifty adjustable mounts that bolted into the shock tube brackets on my impact bumper car. I needed to switch bumpers but I kept the mounts. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0ee5732f4c.jpg

I've never seen those brackets supplied with a fiberglass bumper. Kudos to whoever the manufacturer is. Nice adaptation also Julian.

ST-Parts in Germany. As I understand, from speaking with them, they are probably the largest supplier of backdate parts to various resellers around the world, including big names, that we all know and shops that post here.

Thanks everybody. This gives me some ideas.
My bumpers are kind of ‘shallow’, so there is not much room between the back of the bumper and the car. With that it is somewhat difficult to get in between, to work on brackets and adjust them as needed.
I will see how this works out.
