Can I modify OEM muffler to fit SSI's?
 

Is it possible to weld another inlet flange to a stock OEM muffler to turn it into a 2 in/1 out muffler? My SSI's are arriving in a day or so, and I'm pondering the alternatives. Seems like it wouldn't cost much, and the OEM muffler is supposed to be decent.

I don't want to put a lot of money into the exhaust. I'm hoping to get a new SSI muffler in a year or so. (Whenever they start cranking out the new design, rumored to be a year out).

Anyone try this, or is it a stupid idea?

You can pick up a used pre-74 OEM muffler that will bolt right on for cheap.
