Help deciphering late 80s ignition wiring harness
![]() So I ordered this wiring harness along with the heater control lighting harness, part 911.612.172.01, but I'm not sure the separate harness for the heater control lights is even required, since it looks like the later 80s ignition switch wiring includes ash tray and heater control lights. Green goes to the light switch. So far so good. My guess is orange is the heater control light sockets and black goes to the ash tray light. I'm not sure what the wires circled in gray do. The wire with the box around the spade connector seems to have a corresponding gray wire, but the Kroon box is too small to fit--not a big deal. What does it do, and what are the other two for? Brown is a ground. Don't know where it goes. I could be way off. Could someone please confirm or set me straight? |

Anyone? Any kind of direction would probably be better than trial and error. I did a search and couldn't find anything about these wires specifically.

Have you tried to contact the maker of the wire harness?

Hi, Team Kroon. Thank you for your note. No, I haven't received it. Could you please resend?
Tony, the harness is nearly identical to the factory harness. I thought someone might have dealt with these connections before. Last edited by LucaScali; 09-11-2023 at 07:31 PM.. |

Luca, If the new replacement wire harness is almost identical to the original factory harness, then all you have to do is replace it. What is preventing you from replacing the old wire harness? We’re you having problem removing the old wire harness? Tony |

The old harness caught fire. I've already partially installed this one, including the light switch wires. The PET shows a separate harness/part number for the heater lights, which I have, but it seems the sockets and connections are already integrated into the ignition switch wiring.

Very nicely detailed, clear instructions were provided by Kroon. Great company to work with if you ever need wiring.
The lights do in fact go to the heater control. The gray wire for the parking lights goes to the turn signal switch. The yellow wire is for the radio. No need for the separate harness. |
